In a world where people are defined by war...
Seed has always been fought over, ever since the very beginning. With guns, blades, and magic of every kind. In this world each year is counted by a negative. In elder days this was not always the case. When the scribes and scholars began keeping track of years they had started at year 2000. From that day they began counting down as if waiting for a doomsday. There was reason for this of course. One scholar and master of fortune, (who invented time and days), spoke of a day when the world would fall into chaos. In these years mana veins ran all through the world of "Seed", but at the same time were depleting greatly. Mana was not only a basis of magic that people could manipulate but also the foundation of cities, communication, hygiene, and transportation. Of course though mana was a non-renewable recourse. It was being depleted very quickly and thus the count down to year 0 was made even more apparent.
Towards the year 15 war had started unlike any other, and for 15 long years the world fought itself and each other. Nation against nation, brother against brother. Biological and nuclear weapons were now being abused left and right. This was until the year of 0 came. The world was basically thrown into chaos from war and as prophecy foretold mana had come down to almost nothing.
A scientist by the name of Gaia took the last bit of mana in hopes of duplicating it. Not that they had not been trying for years but Gaia was the first to use unorthodox methods. Not to mention he planned to duplicate it in a different way. By splitting the mana and breaking it's structure it almost created a sort of explosion. Turning it from a liquid into an almost light source or gas form. What it became was odd and at first it killed many people. Spreading all over the land people died and others... well something odd happened.
Many who lived that had offspring discovered that their offspring held an unlimited supply of mana. This short number of people are capable of doing extraordinary things.
